Looking for sample interview request letter? These days writing a letter of request for a job interview is on the decline with most companies providing the means to submit resume online in a predetermined format.

However, being able to write one interview request letter has its benefits as it provides an opportunity for the candidate to express his candidature beyond resume.

This letter of request to the hiring manager or employer for a job interview could either be against an open position that is advertised or merely to create a case for your candidature. Either way, there are a few things to remember and do: –

    • First, introduce yourself to the reader.
    • Study the company before applying for the job.
    • Identify any references, if any that helped you identify the company.
    • Suitably highlight your credentials.
    • Mention when you will be available for an interview.
    • Finally, remember that the letter is merely an invitation to the reader to consider you.

It should be just sufficient to arouse the reader’s curiosity and evoke interest in reading further and looking up your resume.  If the letter is against an open position, then highlight your necessary qualifications and your strengths that are suitable for the job.

Otherwise, describe why you are interested in that particular field, industry or organization.

Dear (First Name) or Dear Mr. / Ms. (Last Name),

I, (your name), am a post-graduate in Computer Science from Pune University. I got to know of the job opening for a Software Programmer in your Product Development group. I got this information from (name of the person from company) who works in the same group.

I am been working as an intern with (company name) for the past 6 months as a Junior Programmer. This is the same organization where I completed my project in partial fulfillment of the post-graduate course in college. The project was to design and prototype an embedded software tool that was to be part of a medical device.

Extremely satisfied with the work on the project, the organization offered me an internship and allowed me to continue working on the software tool. Given that your company is in an allied field, I feel I will be able to contribute in more ways than one to your organization.

I have good analytical abilities and can also work in a team as demonstrated briefly in the earlier organization. I believe I have all the necessary skills and the attitude to fulfill your needs for this position. I seek an opportunity to meet you and express my candidature.

It will be extremely satisfying for me to get an opportunity to work with your esteemed organization. I am enclosing my resume for your perusal.
